How you know getting vaccines makes sense.
I'm in the U.K. and have chronic autoimmunity. For the benefit of anyone who may be unfamiliar with those terms; that means that my immune system will forever be doing its best to do me in. I was born with this and will die with (not from)it.
The British government won't pay out for anything unless they're 1000% certain that it makes economic sense to do so.
The varicella vaccine has only just been added to the NHS routine childhood immunisation schedule, because paying the price for British children to avoid that wasn't a priority in their view.
I receive constant streams of text messages, emails, phone calls, letters and even the occasional home visit, reminding me to take advantage of the vaccines available to me at no charge.
They offer this to people in my position and they're so eager for me to get them, because the alternative will be an ICU bed, costing them a small fortune.
That's all the proof anyone should ever need.
